Here are the prep stars of the night from Tuesday, Oct. 2:
Kayli Kersavage, Snohomish girls swimming & diving
Kersavage, a sophomore and returning state champion, narrowly defeated Marysville Getchell’s Lexi Kilbourn by a single point (224.55-223.55) during a meet at Marysville Pilchuck High School. Snohomish won every event at the meet, beating Marysville Getchell and Marysville Pilchuck.
Delaine Polly, Lake Stevens girls soccer
Polly, a sophomore goalkeeper, entered the Vikings’ match against Lake Stevens after starting goalie Tayla Peterson was shown a red card for a challenge on a Jackson player in the Vikings’ penalty box. Polly helped the Vikings extend their streak of consecutive shutouts against the powerful Jackson attack, making a match-saving save late in the second half of a match that ended in a scoreless draw after two periods of extra time.
Brooke Vandermolen, Jackson girls soccer
Vandermolen, a senior who is listed on the Timberwolves roster as a forward, was forced into duty as an emergency goalkeeper during Jackson’s Wesco 4A showdown with Lake Stevens due to an injury to starter Crystal Le. Vandermolen made a few nice saves, including one on a header by Lake Stevens’ Christina Springer in the 22nd minute in a match that ended in a scoreless draw after two periods of extra time.
Peyton Wickstrom, Stanwood volleyball
Wickstrom, a senior setter, recorded 24 assists and added three service aces as the Spartans improved to 8-0 with a straight-set win over Edmonds-Woodway.
