Police in Lakewood shoot, kill knife-wielding man

SEATTLE — Police in Lakewood shot and killed man who charged at officers with a knife.

KIRO-TV reported that officers were sent to an apartment early Sunday after someone called police to say a man was in his apartment with a knife.

Police say when officers arrived, a man charged at them with a knife. Three officers fired, hitting the suspect, who died at the scene.

Police say the man who charged at officers turned out to be the man who called police. Investigators believe there was no one else in the apartment and he had described himself.

The three officers are now on administrative leave.
