Several injured by alleged DUI driver’s crashes on I-5 near Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD — An alleged DUI driver injured seven people on I-5, closing the southbound freeway for several hours early Sunday morning.

The driver, a 23-year-old Lake Stevens woman, reportedly hit a state snowplow truck at 4:09 a.m. It happened in the northbound lanes near 164th Street SW, the Washington State Patrol said.

Then the woman’s vehicle crossed the median and collided head-on with a Toyota Scion. A Redmond man and a passenger in the Toyota were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Another vehicle hit debris from that wreck, and that driver and a passenger were taken to Swedish/Edmonds hospital.

The Lake Stevens woman and her passenger were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

The southbound lanes reopened around 9:30 a.m.
