Silvertips fall to Royals in SO; Giants clinch top seed

VICTORIA, B.C. — In a back-and-forth contest on Friday, the Everett Silvertips lost to the Victoria Royals 3-2 in a shootout and also lost their chance at the top playoff seed in the Western Conference.
The Silvertips came away with a point to give them 97 on the season, but the Vancouver Giants beat the Kelowna Rockets 2-1 on Friday to reach 100 points with only one game remaining on the season.
Connor Dewar opened the scoring with a goal at 1:15 in the first period. The Royals responded with a goal from Brandon Cutler at 1:32.
Everett claimed the lead again when Martin Fasko-Rudas scored at 8:59 in the second period. But Victoria answered again on another goal from Cutler at 9:56 in the period.
After a scoreless third frame and overtime, the Royals won the shootout 2-1.
Dustin Wolf finished with 28 saves for the Silvertips (46-16-2-3).
Griffen Outhouse had 35 saves for the Royals (34-29-2-2).
