SPOKANE — The car of an Afghan refugee reported missing Saturday was discovered at the Spokane International Airport over the weekend.

The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office says that’s the same airport where her husband bought a one-way ticket and left the country.

The Spokesman-Review reported that Arezu Kashify, 24, was last seen May 25 while dropping off her two children at school.

Her husband never returned to pick the children up. Child Protective Services is overseeing their care.

Deputies say the husband purchased a single, one-way airline ticket May 28 and left the United States. The sheriff’s office didn’t say where his plane was headed.

The sheriff’s office says the couple was having marriage issues.

Kashify and her husband were refugees who came to Spokane in 2015 from Afghanistan.
