The Athlete of the Week nominees for Sept. 30-Oct. 6. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced on next week’s Prep Focus page. Each weekly winner will be included in an Athlete of the Month poll.

Madelynn Butler | Lake Stevens | Girls Swimming

Butler, a sophomore, won the 50- and 100-yard freestyles in the Vikings’ 93-90 dual-meet victory over Snohomish on Thursday. Butler also swam the anchor leg for Lake Stevens’ victorious 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams.

Ethan Ellis and Gunnar Sturlaugson | Snohomish | Boys Tennis

Ellis and Sturlaugson, both juniors, overcame a first-set loss to win their No. 2 doubles match, 6-7 (7), 7-6 (2), 10-3, helping the Panthers to a 4-3 victory over Stanwood in a Wesco 3A North match Oct. 1. The win improved Snohomish’s conference record to 4-0.

Eladio Fountain | Shorecrest | Football

Fountain, a senior, accounted for all five of Shorecrest’s touchdowns in a 36-35 win over Snohomish on Friday. He completed 20 of 37 passes for 272 yards and three TDs and ran for a pair of 1-yard scores.

Jordan Justice | Marysville Pilchuck | Football

Justice, a senior, rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns on just seven carries and also intercepted a pass in the Tomahawks’ 56-22 victory over Stanwood on Friday.

Micah Murphy | Lynnwood | Boys Cross Country

Murphy, a senior, was the top local finisher in the 5,000-meter Class 3A-4A boys race at the Nike Twilight Invitational on Saturday. Murphy placed eighth in a time of 15 minutes, 57.9 seconds.

Iliana Ramirez | Lakewood | Girls Soccer

Ramirez, a junior, had three goals and an assist in the Cougars’ two games last week — a 2-2 tie with Sedro-Woolley and a 3-0 win over Blaine. Her efforts helped Lakewood remain undefeated.

Taylor Rudberg, Mariner volleyball

Rudberg, a senior, had 30 assists, six blocks, five aces and five kills Thursday in the Marauders’ 3-2 win over Cascade.

Naomi Smith | King’s | Girls Cross Country

Smith, a senior, won the girls Class 3A-4A race at the Nike Twilight Invitational on Saturday, completing the 5,000-meter course in a time of 17:21.7. Smith, who competes for Class 1A King’s, finished 29.6 seconds in front of her nearest competitor.

Paige Wilson | Jackson | Volleyball

Wilson, a senior, delivered 22 kills and 11 digs Thursday in the Timberwolves’ 3-2 victory over Kamiak.
