PREP STARS OF THE NIGHT FOR THURSDAY, OCT. 14:
Grace Morgan, Hayley Ross, Faith Urquhart, Jersey Razzano, Meadowdale girls swimming & diving
Morgan, Ross, Urquhart and Razzano, the Mavericks’ 400 freestyle relay team, posted a winning time of 4 minutes, 2.99 seconds to provide the winning margin in an 86-84 victory over Mountlake Terrace in a Wesco South meet at Lynnwood Pool.
Ben Fahey and Chase Harmon, Meadowdale boys tennis
Fahey and Harmon, both seniors, helped the Mavericks to a 5-2 non-conference win over Marysville Pilchuck by beating Aaron Kalab and Treven Southard in three sets, with both the second and third going to tiebreakers. After winning the first set 6-4 and losing the second 7-6 with an 8-6 tiebreaker, Fahey and Harmon won 7-6 with a 9-7 tiebreaker to win the match. Fahey and Harmon are a newly minted doubles team after playing singles for Meadowdale for most of the season.
Arianna Bilby, Arlington volleyball
Bilby, a senior outside hitter, pounded out a team-high 11 kills and added 18 digs and a pair of blocks to help the Eagles sweep Snohomish on the road in a battle of Wesco 3A/2A unbeatens.
Annie Salinger, Oak Harbor volleyball
Salinger, a junior setter, dished out 43 assists and added 11 digs and three aces to help the Wildcats to a five-set Wesco 3A/2A win over Stanwood and extend their perfect 8-0 start to the season.
Bree Nichols, Snohomish girls soccer
Nichols, a junior forward, scored two goals and added an assist as the Panthers blanked Arlington 4-0 in a Wesco 3A/2A battle.
Annie Rasmussen, King’s girls soccer
Gabelein, a junior defender/forward, scored in the 28th minute for the only goal in the Knights’ 1-0 win over Redmond in a non-conference match. King’s, a 1A program, is now 1-2 against 4A schools this season with a fourth matchup coming Saturday against Woodinville.
