Hagglund deserves reelection to Stanwood-Camano school board

As a retired school principal now living on Camano Island, I am writing this letter in strong support of Natalie Hagglund for re-election to the Stanwood-Camano School Board. In my thirty-seven years in education, I had numerous occasions to work directly with school board members in my district, and I have come to know well the personal qualities that make a board member effective for students, staff and the general public. Natalie Hagglund possesses those qualities in abundance, and voters would be well advised to return her to her current position on the board.
One of the critical attributes required of a board member is a willingness to learn and to work with others in what can be a difficult role. As a first-term board member, Natalie willingly gave of her time to attend Washington State School Directors Association annual conferences and regional seminars to educate herself effectively. Known for her integrity, Natalie has also demonstrated fairness to all bargaining units and unions within her position on the board, balancing their requests with the needs of the school district as a whole.
A graduate of Stanwood High School, she is the only director currently with children in our schools full-time, and has her “finger on the pulse” thereby. She is a regular volunteer in the district, where she has served as PTA president, is currently serving on the Port Susan PTO, and has been honored as “Volunteer of the Year.”
I am voting for her and strongly encourage you to do the same.
