Hot Tickets: What to watch this week in prep sports

Six non-football high school sports events to keep an eye on this week:

Girls swimming: Lake Stevens at Stanwood, 3 p.m. Tuesday at Stanwood-Camano YMCA. With a win, Lake Stevens clinches its fifth Wesco North title in six years. The first-place Vikings are 8-0 in conference dual meets. Second-place Snohomish is 6-1 and third-place Stanwood is 5-1. Lake Stevens and Stanwood also face Monroe in the meet.

Girls soccer: Shorecrest at Archbishop Murphy, 6 p.m. Tuesday. With three regular-season matches remaining, Archbishop Murphy is tied with Edmonds-Woodway and Snohomish atop the Wesco 3A/2A standings with 28 points. Shorecrest is fifth with 22 points.

Volleyball: Jackson at Mount Vernon, 7 p.m. Tuesday. In their first meeting this season, Jackson took the first two sets handily before Mount Vernon rallied to win the final three frames for a five-set victory. Mount Vernon is second in Wesco 4A with an 8-1 conference record and Jackson is third at 6-3.

Boys tennis: 4A Northwest District Tournament, 1 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday at Glacier Peak H.S. The top singles players and doubles pairs in Wesco 4A compete for spots in next spring’s state tournament.

Girls swimming: Kamiak at Jackson, 2:30 p.m. Thursday at West Coast Aquatics (Mill Creek). Jackson can clinch the Wesco South title by beating two-time defending conference champion Kamiak in this showdown of area powers. The first-place Timberwolves are 8-0 in league dual meets. Kamiak is tied with Shorecrest for second place at 6-1.

Volleyball: Oak Harbor at Arlington, 7 p.m. Thursday. This match could determine the Wesco 3A/2A title, with both teams entering the week at 10-0 in conference play. Oak Harbor also has a pivotal match Tuesday against visiting Snohomish, which is third in Wesco 3A/2A with an 8-1 league record.
