Silvertips tops Hurricanes in opener of Eastern road trip

LETHBRIDGE, Alberta — Gage Goncalves scored twice, Martin Fasko-Rudas added an insurance goal and the Everett Silvertips beat the Lethbridge Hurricanes 3-1 on Wednesday in the first game of their four-game road trip against Eastern Conference foes.

Goncalves opened the scoring with an unassisted goal just 2 minutes, 35 seconds into the game.

Oliver Okuliar answered with the Hurricanes’ lone goal of the game at 15:41 in the second period, before Goncalves and Fasko-Rudas put the game away with goals in the third period.

Dustin Wolf stopped 23 of 24 shots for the Silvertips (18-6-1-0).

Bryan Thomson stopped 34 of 37 shots for the Hurricanes (17-9-0-4).
