Approve Everett school levies for best possible education

It’s hard not to beg when it comes to my grandchildren. Yet, here I am. It has become increasingly more difficult to pass school district bonds and levies, even those which do not raise new taxes, but which merely replace previously approved measures to fund our schools.

I raised two sons in the Everett Public Schools and have two grandkids now attending an elementary school and a middle school in the district. Over all these years I have been involved as a parent and now a grandparent, volunteering in classrooms, with PTA, and just driving kids to and from school and school activities. I see how hard educators work with what they have, how buildings are aging, and how desperately upgrades are needed in infrastructure and equipment and supplies.

There is so much division in our communities lately, with everyone falling on one side or another of any given issue. But I believe we can all come together on the one issue upon which we should be in agreement: our kids, their education, and the future they hold in their hands. They need to have the best possible educational experience in the Everett Public Schools and we have a chance to help them get that.

Please vote yes on Propositions 1 and 2 for our kids. Mail your ballot by Feb, 8 and we will all celebrate together the passage of these important measures!
