The Athlete of the Week nominees for Feb. 28-March 6. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with the next poll and in next Tuesday’s paper. Each weekly winner will be included in an Athlete of the Month poll.

Jenna Villa | Arlington | Girls Basketball

Villa, a junior, needed less than three quarters to pour in a game-high 27 points as the Eagles routed Kelso 76-45 in a Class 3A state regional game Feb. 25 at Everett Community College. The victory gave Arlington a bye into the state quarterfinals. She won The Herald’s Athlete of the Week voting for Feb. 21-27 by claiming 262 (43.5%) of 603 votes.

This week’s nominees

Jeffrey Anyimah | Mountlake Terrace | Boys Basketball

Anyimah, a senior, averaged 17.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and one steal over four games while helping the Hawks earn a sixth-place trophy at the boys Class 3A Hardwood Classic. Anyimah shot 55.8 % (24 of 43) from the field, 42.1% (8 of 19) from 3-point range and 83.3% (15 of 18) from the free-throw line during the tournament. He poured in 26 points in a consolation-bracket victory over Gig Harbor on March 4.

Ella Gallatin | Snohomish | Girls Basketball

Gallatin, a senior, averaged 17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.8 steals over four games as the Panthers claimed a fourth-place trophy at the girls Class 3A Hardwood Classic. Gallatin’s week included a 28-point performance in Snohomish’s consolation-bracket win over Lakeside on March 4.

Ava Marr | Archbishop Murphy | Girls Basketball

Marr, a freshman, averaged 15.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and one steal over three games to help the Wildcats earn a fourth-place trophy at the girls Class 2A Hardwood Classic. Marr shot 58.1% (18 of 31) from the field during the tournament and netted 22 points in the fourth/sixth-place game against Hudson’s Bay on March 5.

Keira Marsh | Arlington | Girls Basketball

Marsh, a senior, averaged 12 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.7 steals over three games as the Eagles secured a third-place trophy at the girls Class 3A Hardwood Classic. Marsh’s week included 15 points and four steals against top-seeded Mead in the third/fifth-place game March 5.
