Marysville School Board should respect wishes of parents

I have a question about the Marysville School Board proposal to require parent permission for students to join a club or after-school activity (“Marysville School Board proposes parental consent to join LGBTQ clubs,” The Herald, May 11). Is this proposal anything new?

We parents have always had authority to decide where our children spend their time. It is part of directing their upbringing. The board is just codifying what already is and what should be obvious to everyone. Well, to almost everyone. I don’t think LGBTQ activists get this.

No one has the right to secretly indoctrinate kids with values contrary to what their parents teach.
