Commentary reminds of need to work together for community

How refreshing it was to open The Daily Herald on Saturday and read Ron Friesen’s take on Restoring community in Marysville in the Herald Forum (“Marysville must bridge fault lines dividing it,” The Herald, June 11). He writes with elegance a history lesson of “quakes” that have divided our school and church communities.

We always learn from history and I for one will try to listen more and look for compromise or the “middle ground” as Ron says, in discussions with family, friends and within my community. Additionally, I become hopeful when I see graduations and celebrations of our young adults in our schools and church communities. That to me is the best reason to keep an open mind and heart to look for what works and go from there.

Thanks, Ron!
