State’s ban on plastic bags, fees add up for consumers

I am writing about the plastic bag bans and fees that went into place in Washington state in October 2021. I think its ridiculous that they charge eight cents for a paper bag to carry your groceries and other items after spending God knows how much in a original purchase.

I think the government allowing stores to charge this bag fees is not only ridiculous but it’s unconstitutional because I know eight cents isn’t a lot of money but it adds up after a while and there are lots of people living in Washington that live near or below the poverty level. The 9 percent inflation in 2022 has made everything harder for everyone including those with low income so I am writing this letter today to draw attention to this issue to the public and ask Washingtons leaders to overturn thislaw and take a small step to a more affordable Washington state
