The Athlete of the Week nominees for Sept. 5-11. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with next week’s poll and in Tuesday, Sept. 20’s paper.

Isaiah Cuellar | Mariner | Football
Cuellar, a junior, threw for a touchdown, ran for a score and returned an interception for a TD in the Marauders’ 39-14 win over Foster. Cuellar completed 6 for 12 passes for 188 yards, ran for 22 yards on three carries and scored on a 100-yard interception return. He won last week’s poll by claiming 354 (39.6%) of 895 votes.

Cole Balen and Sean Balen | Archbishop Murphy | Boys Tennis
Brothers Cole Balen, a junior, and Sean Balen, a senior, won all four of their matches on their way to winning the first annual Class 2A District 1 Doubles Invite held Sept. 9-10 at Sehome High School. The pair won their matches 6-0, 6-3; 6-2, 6-1; 6-1, 6-4; and 6-3, 6-4. Both also won all three of their singles matches during week to help the Wildcats to a 3-0 start.
Natalie Cardin | Mountlake Terrace | Girls Soccer
Cardin, a junior, scored the go-ahead goal as the Hawks beat Snohomish 2-1 on Sept. 8. She also assisted on Mountlake Terrace’s first score. It was the first time the Hawks beat Snohomish in over 10 years.
Jaedyn Chase | Kamiak | Boys Cross Country
Chase, a senior, took second out of 88 competitors in the senor boys 2-mile race at the Gear Up Northwest XC Preview on Sept. 10 at Civic Stadium. He finished the race in 10 minutes, 10.42 seconds.
Payton Conover | Meadowdale | Girls Cross Country
Conover, a junior, took third out of 88 competitors in the junior girls 2-mile race at the Gear Up Northwest XC Preview on Sept. 10 at Civic Stadium. She finished the race in 12 minutes, 39.53 seconds.
Addison Eastwood | Jackson | Volleyball
Eastwood, a sophomore, delivered 14 kills, eight digs and three aces as Jackson beat Roosevelt in straight sets on Sept. 7. She also had 10 assists and five blocks in a loss to Bothell on Sept. 7.
Jayden Limar | Lake Stevens | Football
Limar, a senior, totaled 295 yards and three touchdowns on offense as the Vikings defeated defending Class 3A state champion Bellevue 37-28 on Sept. 9. He ran for 240 yards and two TDs on 22 carries and added 44 yards and one TD on five receptions.
Cooper Jensen | Glacier Peak | Football
Jensen, a senior, hauled in three touchdown receptions as the Grizzlies downed Class 4A power Camas 34-28 on Sept. 9. His scores went for 24, 30 and 3 yards, including the go-ahead TD in the fourth quarter. He finished with 80 yards on four catches.
