10th LD, Pos. 1: Shavers supports kids’ education

As a life-long educator, dedicating my career to improving and enhancing education for all students, it is critical that I share my support for Clyde Shavers, state representative, Pos. 1, Legislative District 10.
When I quizzed Clyde regarding his support for public education, he advocates to provide pre-K in all public schools, creating college prep and technical education opportunities for all public high schools and state funding of special education.
Today, the state funds roughly 70 percent of public education leaving school districts to fund most special education and advanced technical education with inadequate and uneven funding in many low-income and rural school districts. On a personal note, Clyde’s fiancee is a special education teacher, so education is never far from his thoughts.
Clyde’s opponent says on his website that education is important to him, yet he has voted not to
establishing a low interest student loan program (HB 1736); no to expanding college bound scholarship programs (SB 5321) and not to the Fair Start for Kids Act (SB 5237).
Actions do speak louder than words.
Please join me in voting for Clyde Shavers, a true supporter for educating all our children.
