10th LD, House Pos. 1: Shavers supports abortion access

On June 24, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. This decision places the right to an abortion in the hands of state legislatures.

It has long been documented that Democratic legislators have supported a woman’s right to choose whereas Republican legislators have long championed the end of the right to choose. This demonstrates that the Republican party is ambivalent about essential American values. The Democrats look to defend the crucial American value of freedom of choice by repeatedly voting to protect the freedom to choose.

Clyde Shavers, a United States Navy veteran who upholds American values, is running for State

Representative for the 10th Legislative District, Position 1. Shavers is the only person running for this position who supports a woman’s right to choose.

Like most Democrats, Shavers recognizes the American value of freedom of choice, stating that “the overturning of Roe v. Wade is un-American by taking rights from women.” Shavers also stated that he “will fight to protect every woman’s freedom to choose by ensuring access to abortions and preventative and prenatal care.”

Shavers’ opponent, Greg Gilday, follows the Republican party’s position of opposing a woman’s freedom of choice. Notably, Gilday voted against House Bill 1851 which preserved a woman’s right to choose, demonstrating how little he supports significant American values. The overturning of Roe v. Wade has drastically changed numerous lives. The freedom of choice is a fundamental

American value which people hold dear. A vote for Clyde Shavers is a vote for American values.
