EVERETT — Austin Roest scored twice, but a late Everett rally fell short and the Silvertips fell to Medicine Hat, 6-3, for their first loss of the season.

The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the second period on goals from Cayden Lindstrom, Shane Smith and Alex Drover.

Roest responded on an assist from Dexter Whittle in the second and Jackson Berezowski added a goal pull Everett to within one at 3-2. But Andrew Basha scored with time running down in the period as Medicine Hat took a 4-2 lead into the second intermission.

Roest again pulled the Silvertips to within one with a goal at 9:07 in the final period, but Everett couldn’t find the equalizer and Brendan Lee and Brayden Boehm scored late goals to help the Tigers put the game away.

Braden Holt started and stopped nine of 12 shots before Tim Metzger entered and stopped eight of 10 shots in goal for Everett (3-1-0-0).

Beckett Langkow stopped 34 of 37 shots for Medicine Hat (2-2-0-0).
