Shouldn’t the Bolt Creek fire be out by now?

My question, after reading three weeks of news regarding the Bolt Creek fire is why is it still burning? There have been closures and re-openings of U.S. 2. The initial closure and recent closures regarding trees falling on the road makes sense. Allowing the fire to “burn out” or wait until we get rain is not good policy! I am 69 years old and never had to go through this kind of late summer early-fall problem as a child. It is in the best interests of the state Department of Natural Resources to fully extinguish this fire and deal with the humans who started it.

Our Northwest is turning into a bad scene. I have driven many times after previous summer fires and it is sad, very sad! I do not need to bring up the health issues of fire and smoke, both to the firefighters and the general public. Are we supposed to wait for two or three generations before our forests are replenished? There is also a drought going on in the western states. Come on, DNR and state of Washington: quod satus consummare.
