38th LD, House: Cortes, Fosse care for community

Values, people, and progress are three key principles I look for when evaluating candidates. As an Army officer, my service and duty are anchored in core values centered on serving people and advancing shared goals. Now more than ever, we need leaders who are committed to these core values and who have demonstrated compassion, integrity, humility and determination in working to improve our community. Julio Cortes and Mary Fosse, running for the House in the 38th Legislative District, are two leaders whose commitment to community, resume of work, and dedication to serving people demonstrate.

Julio’s compassion and humility anchor his character and guided his work. From his time as a prevention specialist to his work at Cocoon House and in his work serving our city, caring for people has been a throughline of his career. Mary radiates determination, kindness and integrity. She has fought to build a more representative council on the districting commission and for greater transparency and access to council meetings.

When it comes to taking care of people, for me, nothing is more important than housing. It is foundational. I know both Mary and Julio will take care of people in our community because they have a housing plan and approach to housing policy that will support our community. Both know the challenges facing families who are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. They believe in making investments in housing to help people, and they will fight to protect our most vulnerable from homelessness.

Mary and Julio are two leaders who will help move our community forward. Progress comes when leaders know what issues to focus on, how to approach those issues, and who they are fighting for. Mary and Julio have the right priorities and are ready to meet the challenges surrounding housing, homelessness, economic opportunity, and public safety.

Julio and Mary truly embody the values we need in our elected officials. That is why I ask you to join me in supporting Mary Fosse and Julio Cortes.
