The Athlete of the Week nominees for Nov. 28-Dec. 4. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with next week’s poll and in Dec. 13’s paper.

This week’s nominees

Macray Flanders | Lake Stevens | Football

Flanders, a senior, hit the go-ahead field goal with 5:13 left in the fourth quarter to help the Vikings beat Kennedy Catholic 24-22 in the Class 4A state title game. Flanders also hit all three of his extra points.

Bella Hasan | Kamiak | Girls Basketball

Hasan, a junior, dropped 40 points in the Knights’ season-opening 79-30 victory over Mount Vernon on Nov. 28.

Adria Lincoln | Monroe | Girls Basketball

Lincoln, a senior, started a monster week with a record-setting performance in the Bearcats’ season opener. Lincoln set program records with 43 points, 17 made field goals and 26 rebounds as Monroe beat Mount Vernon 71-29 on Nov. 28. She also had 35 points, 22 rebounds and six assists in the Bearcats’ 82-55 win over Lincoln (Seattle) on Dec. 3.

Bubba Palacol | Marysville Getchell | Boys Basketball

Palacol, a sophomore, poured in 31 points, including five 3-pointers, and added six steals to lift the Chargers past rival Marysville Pilchuck 64-56 on Dec. 2.

Josiah Pierre | Kamiak | Boys Basketball

Pierre, a senior, hit a game-winning floater at the buzzer to lift the Knights to a 59-58 victory over Everett on Dec. 3. Pierre finished with a game-high 25 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter.

Brynna Pukis | Glacier Peak | Girls Basketball

Pukis, a sophomore, scored 12 of her game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter to help the Grizzlies earn a come-from-behind 65-60 win over Meadowdale on Dec. 1. Pukis connected on five 3-pointers and went 6 of 7 from the free-throw line.

Hunter Tibodeau | Shorewood | Boys Wrestling

Tibodeau, a senior, picked up four straight first-round pins on his way to claiming the 220-pound title at the Edmonds Invite on Dec. 3. His quickest victory came with a pin 46 seconds into his championship match with Ferndale’s Sam Brulotte.

Jaymon Wright | Meadowdale | Boys Basketball

Wright, a junior, averaged 16.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists while helping the Mavericks to a 2-1 week. Wright notched a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds in Meadowdale’s 54-51 overtime victory over Inglemoor on Dec. 1. He also had 14 points, eight rebounds in six assists as the Mavericks topped Sedro-Woolley 58-55 on Dec. 3.
