The Athlete of the Week nominees for Dec. 5-11. Voting closes at midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced with next week’s poll and in Dec. 21’s paper.

Macray Flanders | Lake Stevens | Football
Flanders, a senior, hit the go-ahead field goal with 5:13 left in the fourth quarter to help the Vikings beat Kennedy Catholic 24-22 in the Class 4A state title game. Flanders also hit all three of his extra points. He won The Herald’s Athlete of the Week voting for Nov.28-Dec. 4 by claiming 963 (34.5%) of 2,789 votes.

Ben Allen | Shorewood | Boys Swim & Dive
Allen, a junior, earned wins in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 backstroke during a three-team meet with Jackson and Edmonds-Woodway on Dec. 8. Allen finished the 200 IM in 2 minutes, 9.73 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 57.77 seconds. He also helped the Stormrays’ 400 freestyle relay team to a victory.
Liam Fitting | Edmonds-Woodway | Boys Wrestling
Fitting, a senior, picked up a 4-1 victory by decision in the final match of the meet to help the Warriors seal a 37-32 non-league win over Woodinville on Dec. 7. He also went on to claim the 170-pound title at the A-Town Throwdown in Arlington on Dec. 10. Fitting scored three victories via pinfall and won the title match with a 17-2 technical fall over North Creek’s Joseph Boschee.
Juju Kilroy | Marysville Pilchuck | Girls Wrestling
Kilroy, a senior, went 5-0 with three victories by pinfall on her way to winning the 135-pound title at the Everett Girls Invite on Dec. 10. Her win in the championship match came in an 11-2 major decision over Graham-Kapowsin’s Shelby Enos-Cressy, a state qualifier last season.
Samara Morrow | Arlington | Girls Basketball
Morrow, a junior, hit the go-ahead bucket with 13 seconds left to lift the Eagles past Snohomish 49-48 in a key Wesco 3A/2A matchup on Dec. 9. She finished with a team-high 14 points.
Kylani Rookstool | Glacier Peak | Girls Basketball
Rookstool, a senior, connected on seven 3-pointers and netted a game-high 33 points to lift the Grizzlies past Gig Harbor 54-40 on Dec. 10.
Jason Roth | Snohomish | Boys Basketball
Roth, a junior, poured in 29 points to lead the Panthers to a 54-47 victory over Everett in their Wesco 3A/2A opener Dec. 6.
