EVERETT — Volunteers are needed for the annual Point-in-Time Count in January.
The survey provides a snapshot of homelessness in Snohomish County on a single day. This year’s count will be held on Jan. 24.
Data from 2022 showed Snohomish County’s homeless population reaching a 10-year high. The survey counted 1,184 residing in shelter, transitional housing or living without shelter, up 52 from 2020’s count and about 43% higher than the county’s low point in 2015.
The survey “provides a means for gathering information directly from individuals and families experiencing homelessness about their needs and the causes of homelessness,” according to the post on the city of Everett’s website.
The count results help inform the city of Everett and Snohomish County Continuum of Care to assist individuals and families with attaining and sustaining permanent housing as quickly as possible.
