MARYSVILLE — Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring will highlight the city’s 2022 successes and take questions from members of the public at his annual State of the City address next week.
The presentation will be held Wednesday at the city’s newly opened civic campus, 501 Delta Ave. Nehring will describe the past year’s accomplishments and challenges, then discuss upcoming changes for 2023, according to a press release.
City spokesperson Connie Mennie said the mayor will brief attendees on recent crime statistics and early results of Marysville’s public drug use ordinance, approved last month by City Council. Nehring will also speak about the city’s new jail, part of the civic campus, and discuss difficulties in recruiting new police officers and staff.
Looking to the future, Nehring will also preview new business developments in Marysville and the city’s vision for downtown and waterfront development. He’ll also provide an overview of recent and upcoming infrastructure projects, Mennie said.
The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session with members of the audience.
Doors will open for the event at 6 p.m. Nehring’s speech will begin at 6:30 p.m. The presentation will be streamed on the City of Marysville’s official Facebook page.
