Change in solar patterns to blame for climate change

In response to the climate change article by Bloomberug’s Mark Gongloff (“Winter’s warm temperatures no fluke; it’s climate change,” The Herald, Feb.18), he lists a variety of weather changes and asserts that the cause is due to man-made air pollution. No doubt that carbon dioxide emissions cause the greenhouse effect, but I fail to see how trapped, hot air can dramatically affect weather patterns.

It is far more scientific to associate changes in weather with changes in solar activity. Solar energy bombarding the oceans and large land expanses generates dynamic weather behavior. The slightest change in solar activity can change Earth’s weather dramatically. The most effective greenhouse gases are clouds. Perhaps we will someday be able to protect the Earth by finding a way to increase cloud formation.
