Make Link light rail accessible

Regarding the commentary from members of the Sound Transit Board, several things should be made clear (“Big things coming for Link light rail in our county,” The Herald, July 1).
If there’s only one station, it should be within wheelchair access and easy walking distance from the Amtrak-Sounder station to maximize intermodal opportunities. Residences and community institutions should only be displaced if absolutely necessary.
We have a state mandate to cut emissions in half by 2030. Speed up the timeline. Rail is the absolute best way to reduce emissions from our largest-emitting sector. Renegotiate the absurd contract with BNSF Railway that limits Sounder North to four trains a day for 100 years. Make it easy for people to take the trains.
