Adkins, one of our own, would best serve Everett School Board

Everett School District voters have four untested candidates to choose from in the Aug. 1 primary. Don’t overlook Charles Adkins!

Charles is a product of Everett Public Schools, and has firsthand knowledge of the challenges of coming of age and finishing your K-12 education while homeless. Over 40 percent of Everett’s families qualify as low income, and nearly 1,500 qualify as homeless. These are the kids and families who are usually least represented in the experiences of our school board directors. Having someone who has lived experience and can bring that perspective to our school board is a rare opportunity.

Additionally, Charles’ career as a legislative analyst is centered around advocating for kids in our community, and he understands how state and local funding for education works. He’ll be able to hit the ground running and will be a valuable voice for Everett families. His volunteer work with Snohomish County organizations like Cocoon House, the Everett Planning Commission and the Snohomish County Children’s Commission shows a dedication to making Everett a better place for kids and families, and his election to the school board is a natural choice.

We can be electing one of our own, an Everett success story in his own right. I look forward to seeing what he can accomplish once elected!
