County sheriff race: Fortney a law-and-order champion

As a resident of Snohomish County for 45 years and former first responder with law enforcement training, I am proud to endorse Adam Fortney for sheriff. He is a strong and competent leader with forethought, vision and the passionate support of his staff. Most importantly, he clearly comprehends that our Constitution is the litmus test within American jurisprudence and the gatekeeper of our freedoms.

He possessed the courage, independence and insight to question authoritarian edicts in the midst of draconian measures that proved to be completely ineffective at combating covid. He had the wisdom and clarity to be an independent leader and question group-think and nonsensical missives when we were told we could not play tennis or go fishing. We now know that exercise and fresh air were instrumental in staving off the covid virus. I would suggest he was completely correct in many of his pronouncements.

While I am confident that Susanna Johnson is a fine person and has dedicated her life to service; she appears to have a progressive agenda that is more focused on diversity, equity and inclusion, rather than a tough law and order champion for Snohomish County.

Adam Fortney has proven extremely competent and is the clear choice to be our sheriff. He is the right person at the right time to be our leader.
