What’s Everett council candidate’s stance on abortion?

Recently, Ohio’s special election kept the future of abortion rights in the national spotlight. Voters in Everett have an opportunity to vote for new members to our city council in the upcoming election. One of those individuals on the ballot is a former council member, Scott Bader.

I looked into Bader and I discovered via the Everett Herald article from Aug. 2, that Mr. Bader pushed for the “No Sit No Lie” order in addition to stating that he thinks that council is “tipping more liberal.” I discovered on my own that he is a long-time employee of the Seattle Archdiocese, and I must wonder what his stance is on the nation’s current battle for abortion rights and body autonomy?

It seems that Mr. Bader has avoided having to answer this question. Why? Considering the future ramifications of his winning this position, I think it’s about time he did. We live in a city that faces anti-abortion protesters outside our clinic weekly. Does he think abortion rights and access is too liberal? We need a council that will protect access to one of the few sanctuaries for people in need in this city and I have a very deep fear that Scott Bader has been quiet on this topic. Everett deserves transparency in who its potential and current elected officials are.
