County auditor: Gobel can restore faith in elections

While 2023 is not a presidential election year, we all need to remember local elections are very important and much is at stake as we decide who will represent us in a variety of state and local offices. I write this because often voters are not as engaged as they should be about some of these races.
One such race is the election of the county auditor. The office does not get as much attention as other races, but that may be because not everyone is aware of the duties of the Snohomish County Auditor, which are varied and integral to the operations of county government. There are four basic areas of responsibility which include voter registration and election oversight; licensing; animal services; and recording.
This is a crucial time to restore citizens’ faith in our elections and to ensure every eligible citizen has access to registration and voting. We need someone in this position we can trust to be fair and equitable and not susceptible to the hysteria and conspiracy theories around our elections. Cindy Gobel is that person.
Three qualities I find incredibly important in elected officials include integrity, values and a moral compass. Cindy has all three of these attributes and I heartily and enthusiastically support her bid for Snohomish County Auditor.
