Pedestrian identified after being hit, killed by bus near Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD — A pedestrian who died after being hit by a bus on Highway 99 has been identified.

Around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, a southbound Community Transit bus struck a man standing in a lane on Highway 99 near 156th Street SW north of Lynnwood, state trooper Kelsey Harding said this week. He died at the scene.

The deceased was identified Thursday as Matthew Raymond, 34, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause of death was blunt force injuries. The death was classified as accidental.

The bus driver, 58, pulled over and passengers exited. The driver cooperated with investigators and was not arrested.

Southbound lanes of Highway 99 were closed for about two hours as police investigated.
