Everett City Council’s Stonecipher deserves city’s thanks

Brenda Stonecipher, the current president of the Everett City Council, is passing the gavel to someone else after 20 years of service to the residents of Everett.

Her intelligence, experience and unwavering commitment to the city she calls home have benefitted all of us. She brought a deep understanding of finance to the table along with concern for how city and council decisions would affect family budgets and lives.

I saw her as a true advocate for public parks when she represented the council at monthly park board meetings. She has served on the Budget and Finance Committee and many more in those twenty years. Just imagine how many weekly city council meetings, committee meetings and neighborhood meetings she actively participated in over the years; reading reports, listening to citizens, and considering issues.
