Support three measures on Arlington ballot for better schools

I am a student at Post Middle School, which is 42 years old and past its useful life. I’m writing to ask voters to support the three propositions that are on our ballot in Arlington on Feb. 13.

Proposition 3 would support building a new Post Middle School. Our school is derelict and old, and repairs cost more than replacing it. One of the first problems I would like to highlight includes the run-down heating system that runs on a 1990s Window system. If the computer system or any of the no-longer-manufactured heating system parts were to break, Post would become uninhabitable. My hope is that even though I’m an eighth-grader who will never go to the new school, future attendees like my little brother can have a nice school.

I’d now like to move on to the other two propositions, which are levy renewals to support the district as a whole. Proposition 1 would provide funding for staff, classroom materials and district programs. This levy renewal would continue to allow smaller class sizes and support the arts, STEAM, and robotics/engineering. Proposition 2 supports our infrastructure and technology. This would continue to provide funds to repair work, which includes replacing roofs, and maintaining our public services.

I ask you to help me convince others to vote yes to all three propositions on our upcoming ballot, for the good of education in our community.
