2A District 1 Tournament

Championship (winner to state)

Lynden 64, Cedarcrest 43

MOUNT VERNON — The second-seeded Red Wolves fell to the top-seeded Lions in the winner-to-state Class 2A District 1 tournament championship game.

Cedarcrest (19-4) receives one final shot at a state berth in the second-place game 7:15 p.m. Saturday at Mount Vernon High School. The Red Wolves will face the winner of Thursday’s game between fourth-seeded Lakewood and third-seeded Anacortes.

Lynden improved to 20-4.

1A District 2 Tournament

Consolations (Loser out)

Sultan 87, Eastside Prep 48

SULTAN — The third-seeded Turks rolled past the 11th-seeded Eagles in the loser-out consolation game of the Emerald Sound Conference tournament.

Sultan (14-6) advanced to face fourth-seeded Bear Creek in a winner-to-state, loser-out game 4 p.m. Saturday at King’s High School.

Eastside Prep finished its season 10-11.

3A District 1 Tournament

Semifinals

Snohomish 71, Meadowdale 64

MARYSVILLE — The third-seeded Panthers withstood a fourth-quarter surge and held off the second-seeded Mavericks in the winner-to-state Class 3A District 1 tournament semifinal tilt.

Snohomish (16-5) led 56-46 entering the third before Meadowdale pulled within one point, but the Panthers staved off the push. Snohomish advanced to face top-seeded Arlington in the district title game 8 p.m. Saturday at Marysville Pilchuck High School.

Meadowdale (19-4) fell to a winner-to-state, loser-out consolation bracket game against fifth-seeded Everett at 4 p.m. Saturday at Marysville Pilchuck.

Arlington 51, Lynnwood 45

MARYSVILLE — The top-seeded Eagles overcame an early hole and bested the fourth-seeded Royals in the winner-to-state Class 3A District 1 tournament semifinal clash.

Arlington (20-2) trailed 15-6 after the first and needed an 8-2 run to pull within 28-21 at halftime. The Eagles closed the third on an 11-2 run to take the lead and didn’t look back. Arlington advanced to face third-seeded Snohomish in the district title game 8 p.m. Saturday at Marysville Pilchuck High School.

Lynnwood (14-8) fell to a winner-to-state, loser-out consolation bracket game against 11th-seeded Monroe at noon Saturday at Marysville Pilchuck.

Consolations (loser out)

Everett 56, Shorecrest 50

EVERETT — Alana Washington scored 18 points as the fifth-seeded Seagulls came from behind to beat the eighth-seeded Scots in a loser-out consolation game of the Class 3A District 1 tournament.

Tatum Smith added 14 points for Everett (15-8), which trailed 34-24 at halftime. The Seagulls advanced to face second-seeded Meadowdale in a winner-to-state, loser-out consolation bracket game 4 p.m. Saturday at Marysville Pilchuck High School.

Cassandra Chesnut scored 21 points and Jocelyn Wirch added 15 for Shorecrest, which finished its season 15-8.

Monroe 54, Stanwood 52

STANWOOD — The 11th-seeded Bearcats used a fourth-quarter push to keep their postseason run alive and edge the 10th-seeded Spartans in a loser-out consolation game of the Class 3A District 1 tournament.

Halle Keller registered 11 of her team-high 14 points in the fourth quarter and Cascadia Yates and Mya Mercille each had 12 for Monroe (12-11), which outscored Stanwood 19-5 in the final period. The Bearcats advanced to face fourth-seeded Lynnwood in a winner-to-state, loser-out consolation bracket game noon Saturday at Marysville Pilchuck High School.

Ella Wortham scored 16 points and Jazmyn Legg and Stella Berrett each added 12 for Stanwood (10-13).

2A District 1 Tournament

Championship (winner to state)

Lynden 66, Archbishop Murphy 45

MOUNT VERNON — The second-seeded Wildcats hung tough for a half but the top-seeded Lions pulled away in the winner-to-state Class 2A District 1 tournament championship game.

Brooke Blachly netted 21 points, including 19 in the first half, Taylor Cushing had nine points and Ashley Fletcher added eight for Archbishop Murphy (18-5). The Wildcats get one final crack at a state berth in the second-place game 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Mount Vernon High School. They’ll face the winner of Thursday’s game between fourth-seeded Sehome and third-seeded Burlington-Edison.

Finley Parcher poured in a game-high 25 points and Payton Mills scored 18 to lead Lynden (23-1), which outscored Archbishop Murphy 33-13 over the final two frames.
