Problem is delay in permits for clean energy, grid projects

There are, of course, pros and cons to new nuclear reactors (“Editorial: Small nuclear reactors may be key to state’s energy mix,” The Herald, April 2).

But, what is necessary? There are currently 10,000 clean energy projects waiting for the “go” signal. Yet, permitting is agonizingly slow, up to 10 years or more. Let’s push Congress to get on with it!

With new transmission high voltage direct current lines and legislation like the Big Wires Act, the beast of Energy Gaps is slayed.

In 2023 over 500 gigawatts of clean energy went online. That’s equal to the output of hundreds of even large nukes, without fear of nuclear terrorism or nuclear waste.

Let’s just keep on going; by voting for climate champions.
