EVERETT — After four years leading Edmonds Chamber of Commerce, President and CEO Ryan Crowther will step down in September to take over as APEX Everett’s CEO.

The chamber announced Crowther’s departure Tuesday, stating Crowther will see the organization through the Edmonds Block Party and Classic Car & Motorcycle Show before his last day on Sept. 6.

“We’re incredibly grateful for Ryan’s dedication to the Edmonds community and the lasting impact he’s made,” the chamber wrote. “While we’ll miss his leadership, we’re excited to see him take on this new opportunity and wish him continued success.”

On Sept. 15, Crowther will step into his new role at APEX, where he will lead the historic venue’s strategic vision and growth across the complex’s various culinary and event spaces, according to an APEX Everett press release. His focus will include expanding live entertainment, private events, community partnerships, fundraising and cultural programming.

“For the community, the most visible change will be an expanded calendar of events, entertainment, and experiences throughout the building,” Crowther told The Daily Herald in an Email.

Crowther was the first choice for the role, said Johnny Carswell, founder and owner of APEX Everett, in the release.

“He has the vision, experience, and leadership skills to manage something with this many moving parts,” he said. “More importantly, he genuinely believes in Everett and what this city can become. I’m excited to welcome him into this role and see what we can accomplish together.”

As Carswell steps back from day-to-day operations, the new CEO will support APEX’s growth while Carswell devotes more time to initiatives like the art program, All-City Fight Night, and other projects, Crowther said.

Crowther has nearly two decades of experience in public relations, marketing, event production, nonprofit leadership and executive management, the release said. He will remain the Board Chair of the Everett Music Initiative, strengthening the partnership between the two organizations.

The Edmonds Chamber launched a regional and national search for its next president and CEO. Interested individuals can apply on the chamber’s website.

As he prepares to move onto his next chapter, Crowther said serving as the chamber president deepened his understanding of community leadership.

“Community work quickly teaches you that it isn’t about you or one person, it’s about serving as a leader and facilitator who builds community and brings people together,” he said.
