Baseball stars
Marysville Pilchuck’s Jake Luton smashed a line drive single in the bottom of the seventh inning with one out and the bases loaded to knock in the game-winning run as the Tomahawks beat Stanwood. … Edmonds-Woodway’s Ben Roquet went 2-for-2 with two doubles, including a two-run double in a key five-run second inning, and starting pitcher Jorgen Arnesen tossed seven shut-out innings and struck out eight as the Warriors beat Mariner to remain unbeaten in Wesco South play. … Everett’s Nick Widen pitched a complete game, his second straight, and scattered five hits over seven innings while striking out four to lead Everett to a win over Marysville Getchell. … Cascade’s Andy Crosby scattered four hits, gave up only one earned run and also ignited a rally in the fourth inning with a line-drive double as the Knights beat Cascade. … Mountlake Terrace starter Alex Hatch pitched a two-hitter and had 12 strikeouts and catcher Austin Johnson was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI in the Hawks’ win over Oak Harbor.
