STANWOOD — A double-double from Cannen Roberson (24 points, 12 rebounds) helped Stanwood deal Jackson a 57-53 loss Thursday night, the Timberwolves first league loss of the season.
The battle between Roberson and Jackson’s Jason Todd (21 points) was key according to Stanwood head coach Zach Ward. “(Roberson) and Tood were both guarding each other at each end of the floor. … We did a pretty good job on Todd,” Ward said.
Josh Thayer scored 14 points to lead the Spartans.
Ward was pleased that the early game troubles that have plagued his team this season were nowhere to be found. “Our guys came out with super energy, maybe for the first time this year. We played four quarters of how we would expect to play.”
Dan Kingma scored 15 points for Jackson.
