Soar: Superhero dance for moms, sons
Fathers and daughters have had their special dances. Now, mothers and their sons are invited to dress up, meet a super hero and show off their super dance moves with a special night, 7:30-9 p.m. April 16 at Cedarcrest Middle School in Marysville.
The Marysville Parks, Culture and Recreation event includes refreshments and a photo with a superhero. An earlier dance is sold out.
Cost is $25 per couple and $5 for each additional son.

Sip: Taste what Mukilteo has to offer
Enjoy live music and samples from local restaurants, wineries, craft breweries and distilleries at Cheers Mukilteo, 5-8 p.m. April 14 at the Future of Flight Aviation Center, 8415 Paine Field Blvd., on the Strato Deck.
A silent auction, and a wine store with full-case discounts, round out the event by the Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce.
Tickets are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door, and include food bites and eight sipping tickets. Extra sipping tickets are $1 each.

Help: Volunteer for horse program
Equestrian Crossings of Whidbey Island seeks volunteers to help with a six-week pilot project starting in May that will pair multiple sclerosis clients with horses for adaptive riding lessons.
Training is provided for volunteers; no horsemanship experience is required. Lessons are expected to last from 60 to 90 minutes and will be held Thursdays. Volunteers must sign up for training by April 14.

Experience: What is poverty like?
Homeless issues are at the forefront of many city agendas. What would it be like to live in poverty?
That’s the focus of a Cost of Poverty Experience Simulation workshop, set for 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. April 22 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 17222 43rd Ave. NE, Arlington. Registration is due April 13.
The event is sponsored by the city of Arlington, United Way of Snohomish County and Leadership Snohomish County. The event aims to lend a deeper understanding of the complexity of poverty and to help forge change.

Edmonds Driftwood Players offers various scholarships to graduating high school seniors or college students pursuing theater arts. Students must be a graduate of a school within Edmonds School District boundaries. Deadline is April 30.
