EDMONDS — The Edmonds-Woodway girls basketball team went 14-for-16 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to defeat last year’s state champions Lewis and Clark 42-39.
Sidney Eck had nine points and 14 rebounds in the win.
E-W head coach Duane Hodges said the team the Warriors faced Thursday wasn’t quite the same team that won that state championship, but they were still a challenge.
“They were down a couple of players due to injuries (tonight), but they are still really, really good,” Hodges said. “They are a great defensive team. We were able to execute a few things, get inside. Maybe in the fourth quarter they got in a little foul trouble. … They had to foul, I should say.”
Natalie Kasper led the Warriors with 14 points and connected twice from 3-point range.
