Fosheim plans to talk about his new book, “Mill Town Boy,” and will be available to sign copies. Refreshments will be served. The book centers on Fosheim’s father and his family who moved to Everett from Norway more than 100 years ago. Free for members of Historic Everett. Tickets for others, $5. The Trudy Sundberg Lecture Series brings Pulitzer prize-winning journalist and author Hedrick Smith to Whidbey Island for two events. The series honors the memory of Sundberg, an Oak Harbor teacher who died in 2013.
Smith will talk about his recent book “Who Stole the American Dream?” — an analysis of the growing gap in income and wealth in the United States. As a New York Times reporter, Smith was a member of the news team that broke the Pentagon Papers story in 1971, resulting in a Pulitzer. In 1974, he won another Pulitzer for his reporting on the Soviet Union and its allies. Smith also won an Emmy Award for his documentaries on PBS.
The Whidbey Island Center for the Arts is at 565 Camano Ave. Coupeville High School is at 501 S. Main St.
