Ligonberry jam
Some of us may be disappointed by the news that it’s Costco, not Ikea, that’s building a store in Lynnwood (above). But 12,400 of Ikea’s U.S. employees have reason to celebrate: The company’s giving every single one of them a bicycle for Christmas (Page A8).
The bikes won’t be branded with the Ikea logo, which is only fitting since they weren’t shipped in a flat pack container, do not require exasperating assembly, and aren’t named something like “Mårken.”
Personal space: In the latest interior design trend, homeowners are creating living spaces that reflect their interests, like the couple who made their TV room look like the command center of Darth Vader’s Star Destroyer spaceship (Home &Garden, Page 5).
On the other hand, a rumpus room modeled on the pawn shop basement in “Pulp Fiction” would be taking things too far.
Speaking of space: Although the number of known stars has tripled, NASA still can’t definitively state whether life exists elsewhere in the galaxy (Page A2).
However, NASA did conclusively rule out any chance of intelligent life in the cast of MTV’s “Jersey Shore.”
