‘Uggs’ was taken
Feets, don’t fail me now: If you have an outdoorsy type on your gift list, Herald Writer Jackson Holtz has some suggestions, including a thermal jacket, a wearable camcorder and Vibram’s Fivefingers, a glovelike combination of sock and shoe that protects the feet of those who would rather go unshod (Page F1).
Those of you who are still wearing Crocs can now point and laugh at someone who looks more ridiculous than you.
With deepest sympathy: The greeting card industry is the latest to see a decline in sales because of the economy and competition from the Internet. With more people wishing friends and family birthday greetings on Facebook, fewer people are buying cards with Ziggy on them (Page C1).
Hallmark, the greeting card giant, isn’t giving up easily though. It’s changed its motto to: When you care enough to send something more meaningful than a poke.
Oh, you shouldn’t have: Anonymous donors spent $132.5 million to influence political elections during the 2010 election cycle, thanks to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that cleared the way for unlimited donations (Page A3).
And if you’re still struggling to find that perfect gift for the elected official in your life, it’s not too early to buy airtime with which to trash the other candidates.
