SHORELINE — Sophia Flohr’s goal in the 60th minute broke a scoreless tie as Shorecrest defeated Meadowdale 1-0 in a Wesco 3A girls soccer match on Saturday.

Rachel Schrote split two defenders near midfield and passed the ball right to the foot of Flohr, who drilled a low, hard shot into the side of the net for the game’s lone goal, as the Scots held off Meadowdale (1-1, 2-1).

It was a big win for a young Shorecrest (2-0, 2-1) club trying to come together as a team.

“It’s taken a little while but it seems like we’re finally starting to jell as a team,” Shorecrest head coach Mindy Dalziel said.

Ashley Beeson and Frida Swensen each played a half in net for the Scots and combined for the shutout.
