MARYSVILLE — Lanesha Reagan slammed 13 kills and setter Shelby Short provided 30 assists to help the Snohomish volleyball team clinch a 4A District 1 playoff berth with a three game sweep over Marysville-Pilchuck, Wednesday night at M-P. The set scores were 28-26, 25-13, 25-20.
Snohomish remained undefeated, extending its record to 6-0 in league and 10-0 overall.
“I think the first time we played Snohomish it was almost humiliating the way we got beat. We didn’t battle,” Marysville-Pilchuck head coach Shelly Johnson said. “This time I felt so much more hope that they did battle, that they did compete.”
Hannah Watson had 13 kills and three blocks for the Tomahawks (2-4, 5-5) while Sammy Minnig had four kills and served 20-for-20.
“I think there’s a lot of hope that there is potential for this team, that this team puts it together by the end of the season,” Johnson added.
But while the Marysville team was left to search for positives in a tough defeat, it was Snohomish that was able to celebrate behind the play of their outstanding setter (Short), according to Johnson.
“She’s just really consistent, doesn’t make any errors,” said Johnson.
That consistency allowed Snohomish to survive in the first game 28-26 and then outlast the Tomahawks over the next two as Marysville had a hard time adjusting after the intensity of the first game, according to their coach.
