Open the fridge door, Hal: Technology experts tell us that within a couple of decades we may have “smart” household appliances: refrigerators that nag us about snacking, phones that block calls we don’t want to answer and cars that entertain us with jokes.
We’ll pass, at least on the fridge. When we want a cold beer, we don’t want to go through the hassle of pulling computer chips from the back of the Frigidaire to get the door open.
That’s good Squishy: 7-Eleven, your one-stop shop for beef sticks, energy drinks and lad mags, is celebrating the 45th birthday of the frozen corn syrup concoction know as the Slurpee by offering free 7.11-ounce Slurpees to customers today.
If you’re wondering why 7-Eleven would give away something, remember that the chain also sells pain relievers for brain freezes.
