7-Lakes project plows right ahead

Our Snohomish County Council recently (unanimously) approved construction of a 600-unit housing development in the 7 Lakes area. (June 10 article, “County approves Lake Goodwin housing development.”) The community has banded together with meetings and websites to oppose this — to no avail.
To our elected officials: I seem to recall campaign promises … “I believe in growth management.” “I want to protect our quality of life.” “I will preserve our farmland.”
To the voters of Snohomish County — look around you. What has the Snohomish County Council done for you? I was born and raised in Stanwood. (There’s a housing development on practically every street corner now). I see Big Boxes at Smokey Point. When WalMart opens, how will we get from Point A to Point B?
The damage has been done, but if our vote still counts, please consider voting every incumbent out of office. Any newly elected officials (of any political party) will be an improvement.
