50 YEARS AGO (1960)

Winners of the top awards in the 2- to 4-year-old division of the annual Elks Easter Egg Hunt at Forest Park were Sandy Stults and Brad Cross. Complimenting them on their accomplishments was Bob Cassidy, exalted ruler of the lodge.

Past presidents of the Marysville Sportmen’s Club would be honored in Veterans Hall. They were Roy Lashua, John Sanner, Arthur Dubroko, William Woods, Robert Hanson, Dee Barnhart, Robert Erickson, Charles Witscher, Ray Sparlin, Adolph Nelson and Walter Taubeneck.

25 YEARS AGO (1985)

Bill Langus, a member of the Everett City Council since it was formed 16 years ago, was to seek another term this fall. He said he planned to informally launch his campaign during a reception at Normanna Hall. Langus had been an Everett representative on the Snohomish Health District board since shortly after he went on the council.

More than 50 years old, the eastbound section of the Hewitt Avenue trestle was rapidly deteriorating, but state and federal highway officials said there probably wouldn’t be any money to rebuild it in the near future. The link to east county communities was clogged during rush hour.
