Hasty to disavow will of the public

I would like to personally thank our County Council for their recent majority vote to banish the threat of mini-cities from our rural horizons. Thank you Mr. Somers, Cooper and Sullivan for listening to the people, looking at the statistics on FCCs, and valuing our rural countrysides enough to not promote the unnecessary clutter, destruction and pollution that follow FCCs.
However hard it has been to swallow that our own County Council member for northern Snohomish County, John of Kostercountry, was all for allowing them, it indeed is now a real slap in the face of the public for Mr. Reardon to veto the council’s vote anyway. That is what is truly hasty, to turn right around and override them. To disavow the public, and sources such as our own Puget Sound Regional Council that is totally against FCCs, and then even your own County Council.
I do remember reading in The Herald in March of this year that Reardon was recognized by the National Association of Home Builders for being very progressive and easy to work with on housing issues. I can see why he was honored by whom he was honored. If progressive is equated to grandiose development with devastating environmental impacts, looks likes he must be the man for the job. However, I think our county could benefit and be much prouder of development in moderation with sound environmental choices. It can be done. That is if you try to do the right thing as steward of the lands.
Individually we are either part of the problem, or part of the solution. We certainly can see which Reardon is.
